Q1: We want each of our many chain stores to be able to collect payment independently. Is this possible?
A1: Of course! Every store will just need to apply for a separate WeChat merchant number. What a lot of our clients didn’t know is that after you’ve opened WeChat Pay, you can apply for separate WeChat merchant numbers – whether it’s for an ecommerce, physical or chain store. You’re not limited by the merchant number you started with.
Q2: I have a lot of fans on my Weixin account. What should I do about my old Weixin account if I decide to open a WeChat official account?
A2: After opening a WeChat official account (the international version of WeChat), you can migrate content and fans from your old Weixin account (the Mainland Chinese version of WeChat) to the new account. It’s not a complicated move, but you will need to open the new WeChat official account first.
Q3: Can I use the name of my old account, for the new account? Both were owned by me, so can I reuse the name?
A3: No, you definitely won’t be able to reuse the name. That is because the old account with the same name still exists and is in use.
Q4: Can I delete my old account after migrating to the new account?
A4: No, WeChat currently does not have that option. Once you’ve completed the migration process, you’ll be automatically logged out of your old account.
